Occupational Health

Occupational Health

It’s a simple idea: Good health is good for employees. It’s good for productivity. It’s good for your business. The path to good health is simple, too: Trusting trained occupational health professionals with your health service needs.

At Mercy Health, we have more occupational health experience than anywhere else in the Greater Cincinnati area. We understand your business and your people. And we’re as interested as you are in getting them well and back to work. Because we believe the simplest ideas of all: Business is stronger when your employees are healthier.

Offering 24 hour care (which we do) means more than the convenience of multiple care locations (which we have). It means that – in our clinic, in the ER or anywhere in between – we’ll diagnose, treat and rehabilitate the right way, right away. The sooner the treatment, the sooner workers return to work. And in better condition.

Physical Exams

When you need to look after your employees’ health, we know what to look for. Get a clearer picture with:

• Pre-placement physicals
• Return-to-work evaluations
• DOT physicals by physicians on National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners
• OSHA medical surveillance exams
• Independent medical exams
• Second-opinion evaluations
• Fitness for duty exams
• Respirator physicals
• Physical capacity exams
• Hazardous materials exam

Independent Medical Evaluations

When you need an objective third party, our-board certified physicians are a trusted resource. This includes:

• Return-to-duty evaluations
• Fitness for duty evaluations
• Medical surveillance evaluations
• Appropriateness of treatment reviews

Occupational Injury Treatment

When a worker is injured on the job, getting quality care right away is priority #1. Our medical staff specialize in workplace injuries and emergencies. And we’re ready 24 hours a day.

A serious injury or illness needs immediate care. The Mercy Health – Occupational Health clinic specializes in these emergencies. The Mercy Health hospitals and emergency departments can treat all types of workplace injuries like:

• Puncture wounds
• Eye injuries
• Lacerations
• Fractures
• Sprains and strains
• Minor burns
• Abrasions
• Chemical exposures
• Severe allergic reactions
• Skin-related problems

Treating the injury is just the first step. We’ll also educate on workplace safety to prevent re-injury and provide follow-up care. To help the transition go as smooth as possible, we offer 24-hour case management, prompt reporting for compensation claims and thorough return to work plans. Labs and X-ray are all in the same building as our occupational health clinics. And we’ll keep you up-to-date on the status of every case.

Drug and Alcohol Testing

Whatever your drug and alcohol policy involves, we can test for it. As urine testing grows more common during the hiring process, we often do screenings during our regular pre-placement exams. We’ll not only set up and run your testing program, but we can help you set up your policies and procedures, too. Our substance abuse testing services include:

• New hire, post-accident, random and for-cause testing
• On-site testing
• Hair analysis drug testing
• Department of Transportation required testing

Our substance abuse services include:
  • Breath alcohol testing
  • DOT and non-DOT drug screens
  • Reasonable cause/fitness for duty evaluations with urine drug screen and breath alcohol
  • Expanded urine drug screens
  • Random urine drug screen program

Please contact Cindy Ramsey at 513-981-5904 with any questions about our Random Drug Screen Program.

Effective October 1, 2010, Ohio BWC's Drug Free Safety Program changes and the Drug Screen Panel changes from a five to a six panel to include testing for the drug Ecstasy.
