Vascular Screenings Save Lives

At The Jewish Hospital, we provide life-saving and life-changing care. Ultimately, our goal is to help you be well. We offer a package of vascular screenings - no prescription needed - for just $99 so that you can know your overall cardiovascular health.

Three tests are included in the package. All are performed at the hospital and take about 20 minutes. They are non-invasive and painless, but could save your life by detecting vascular disease at an early stage.

These tests include:

Carotid Artery Ultrasound (to check for risk of stroke)
The carotid arteries supply blood to the brain. Over time, fatty deposits and plaque can severely narrow or completely block blood flow to the brain, resulting in a stroke. Stroke is the third-leading cause of death and disability in the United States. This ultrasound test checks the blood flow of the carotid artery in your neck.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Ultrasound (AAA)
The abdominal aorta is the largest artery in the body. Vascular disease may weaken the artery wall resulting in an expansion of the artery or a hole in the artery (aneurysm) which can be fatal. Approximately 15,000 people die each year when aneurysms rupture in the abdominal aorta. This ultrasound looks for weaknesses in the abdominal artery.

Peripheral Vascular Disease Blood Pressure
Deposits of plaque in the large arteries of the legs can block the blood supply to the legs, resulting in pain with walking (claudication). As the disease progresses, the distances you can walk without pain grow shorter. A technician will measure the blood pressure of your arms and legs to determine the presence of vascular disease.

Vascular screening appointments can be scheduled by calling 513-686-3250.
