Visitor Information

The Jewish Hospital

Visitor Information

At Jewish Hospital, we understand the value of including family, friends and loved ones in the healing process of our patients. We are pleased to offer open visiting in most areas of the hospital. Visitors are encouraged to stop at either Information Desk located in the Main Lobby or at the West Entrance for patient room and telephone number information. Please understand that to protect the confidentiality of our patients, nurses and other hospital caregivers may be limited in the information they can provide.

Overnight stay by an adult family member or caregiver is permitted on most units in private rooms only. If your visitor would like to stay overnight, please discuss this with your nurse. Passes are required for all visitors who remain in the hospital after 10 p.m. and can be obtained from your nurse. Children should be 14 years of age or older to visit a patient and should be accompanied by an adult. Please do not leave children unattended in the Lobby, the West Entrance, or Emergency department waiting area.

Intensive Care and Open Heart Recovery:
Visiting hours are generally open, and visitors are allowed when patient condition and workflow permit.

Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit:
Patients on the Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit are very vulnerable to infection, so special measures are in place to keep germs away from them. No children under the age of 14 are allowed on the unit. You should not come to the unit if you are ill. Before entering the unit, you must first call on the phone just outside the entrance of the unit. State the name of the patient you would like to visit. The nurse will check with the patient on whether it is a good time for visitors.

When you enter the unit, you must first stop at the scrub sink and thoroughly wash your hands. You may then proceed to the patient’s room. Fresh flowers, fresh fruits and vegetables are not permitted on the unit.
